The mayor of the city of Uzgen, Eldos Taev, announced the start of work on fencing the landfill area.

He noted that the work is being carried out with the support of several non-governmental organizations.

“The area of the landfill is 5.6 hectares. Previously, this territory was open, which sometimes allowed livestock to enter the landfill. We are now installing a fence in accordance with sanitary standards,” the mayor added.

According to him, funding for the project has been allocated by the UN Development Program through the public fund "Uzgen Cosmos." The non-governmental organization is responsible for purchasing construction materials, while local residents participate in the work in the format of ashar.

Temirzhan Kalmurzaev, the head of the "Uzgen-Tazalyk" enterprise, spoke about plans to build a washing station for garbage trucks and a checkpoint.

“After the garbage is unloaded at the landfill, it will be treated with chlorine and then covered with soil. Currently, a 2.5-meter high fence is being erected. Checkpoints and a washing station for vehicles are also being built. Garbage trucks will be washed and disinfected before entering the city. $50,000 has been allocated for this work,” he explained.
