The V meeting of the energy ministers of the member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took place in Istanbul. This important event was attended by high-ranking representatives of energy ministries and the Secretary General of the OTS, Kubanychbek Omuraliev.

During the meeting, the significance of the energy potential of the Turkic world was emphasized, both in terms of traditional and renewable energy sources. The unique geographical location of the region makes it a strategic bridge between Asia and Europe.

Participants noted that in the context of growing global energy demand and the accelerating transition to new energy sources, the importance of practical cooperation is increasing. The main focus was on issues of ensuring energy security and interconnectivity in energy.

An important aspect of the discussion was the integration of pipelines, power grids, and storage facilities, which will help ensure stable energy resource supplies, support trade development, promote economic growth, and strengthen geopolitical stability in the Turkic region.

Kubanychbek Omuraliev highlighted the importance of both ongoing and planned projects, including intergovernmental cooperation in the oil and gas sector (such as Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan, Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum, South Caucasus Pipeline, TANAP, TAP, and the Igdir–Nakhchivan gas pipeline), as well as strategic partnerships between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan in the field of green energy and the project to create the Green Energy Corridor Azerbaijan–Georgia–Turkey–Bulgaria.

Additionally, issues related to the construction of the Kambarat-1 hydropower plant and the implementation of the Black Sea underwater cable for electricity export were discussed.

As a result of the meeting, the countries confirmed their commitment to implementing the OTS Energy Cooperation Program for 2023–2027, actively participating in the energy coordination council, establishing a regional center for technologies and green initiatives, and developing professional training programs for specialists.

The next meeting of the energy ministers of the OTS countries is scheduled for 2026 in Uzbekistan.
