Discussions continue in the center of Bishkek regarding the Old Bishkek project, which has sparked numerous controversies. The head of the State National Security Committee, Kamchybek Tashiev, previously expressed his dissatisfaction with the implementation of this project and called for the space to be made more functional and convenient for the city's residents.

The project was initiated by the former mayor of the capital, Nariman Tuleev. Initially, it was planned for this area to resemble Times Square, and later — Monte Carlo. However, according to local residents, the current result is far from the declared ideals.

In place of the former large pines that provided shade and comfort on hot days, only small shrubs have been planted now, some of which are in pots. Instead of a green area with shady trees, there is now an open lawn that does not provide relief from the sun's rays. Residents doubt that such landscaping can be considered people-oriented.

On social media, the capital's residents are actively discussing why, in a center where greenery and shade are sorely lacking, mature trees are being cut down, only to be replaced by decorative bushes. Many note that it has become less comfortable to walk here, especially during the summer.

As Kamchybek Tashiev previously emphasized, such projects should be developed with the interests of the citizens in mind, rather than solely at the discretion of developers.
