Number of doctors. Kyrgyzstan is the only CIS country with a rate below the world average

The situation with medical personnel is most critical in rural and remote areas

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there is an average of 17.2 doctors per 10,000 people worldwide. Unlike most CIS countries, where this figure significantly exceeds the global average, Kyrgyzstan has become the only state in the region where the doctor density is only 15.7 per 10,000 population, which is below the global level.

Experts emphasize that this situation negatively affects the accessibility of medical care, especially in regions and rural areas. Compared to other CIS countries, Kyrgyzstan shows the lowest indicators, making the issue of medical personnel shortages particularly relevant for the healthcare system of the republic.

In contrast, Georgia is the leader among CIS countries in the number of doctors, with a rate of over 56 per 10,000 population, which is more than three times higher than Kyrgyzstan's level.

Ranking of doctor density in CIS countries (per 10,000 population), in descending order:
Georgia – 56.4
Russia – 51.1
Belarus – 47.2
Moldova – 40.2
Kazakhstan – 37.5
Ukraine – 35.3
Armenia – 33.6
Azerbaijan – 31.9
Turkmenistan – 19.3
Tajikistan – 18.7
Kyrgyzstan – 15.7
