At the high-level plenary session of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Malta, focused on the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, Kyrgyzstan was represented by Deputy Minister of Health Nurgul Adnaeva.

The event, organized by the WHO European Regional Office, brought together health ministers, specialists, and representatives of international organizations from Europe and Central Asia. Participants' main focus was on practical approaches to integrating AI into medical systems, as well as ethical aspects, data management, and international cooperation.

Speaking at the session dedicated to the responsible use of AI in healthcare, Nurgul Adnaeva shared Kyrgyzstan's experience in digital technologies and artificial intelligence. She emphasized the need to protect citizens' personal data, ensure ethical use of AI, and improve digital literacy among healthcare workers.

According to Adnaeva, the development of AI technologies should support the professional role of doctors and consider patients' rights, rather than replace medical specialists. She also highlighted the importance of the work being done within the framework of the Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which establishes the legal foundations for regulating the use of AI in medicine.

The mechanisms being created aim to enhance the transparency of algorithms, prevent discrimination, protect medical data, and define accountability when using AI for decision-making. Kyrgyzstan views ethical aspects as a crucial element of digital transformation and continues to adhere to the principles of a safe and human-centered approach in healthcare.
