During the New Year celebrations on December 31 and January 1, a record number of ambulance teams—42—will be operating in Bishkek. This was announced by Iskender Shayahmetov, the director of the Emergency Medical Center (EMC) of the capital, in an interview for 24.kg.

According to Shayahmetov, an order has been issued appointing responsible staff to oversee the center's operations throughout the holiday period from December 31 to January 10.

On December 31, during the New Year events at Ala-Too Central Square, two specialized teams—a resuscitation team and a cardiology team—will be on duty. “All teams are fully equipped with the necessary medical instruments and have received additional medications and bandaging materials. Clinics with round-the-clock access have a stock of medications. We are ready, and the hospitals that will receive emergency patients are also prepared—these include the emergency hospital, the National Hospital, the children's hospital, and the National Surgical Center,” noted the EMC director.

Shayahmetov added that a double salary is provided for work during the holidays in accordance with the law.

He expressed hope that the quality of pyrotechnic products and the control over their sale have improved, which will help avoid injuries. Last year, two people were injured by pyrotechnics on New Year's Eve.

According to medical professionals, the duty on December 31 is usually easier compared to January 1, when people experience exacerbations of chronic illnesses. Specialists advise monitoring one's health, avoiding overeating (especially fatty foods at night), and consuming alcohol in moderation. If necessary, one can wash out the stomach with plain room temperature water without additives. In case of a deterioration in condition, it is recommended to seek medical assistance.
