The school principal, Dinara Atantaeva, shared information with 24.kg: “According to the instructions from the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Center, after the disease was detected, a complete disinfection was carried out in the school. First, we treated the classrooms where the infected teacher worked, including desks, switches, and windowsills, and then the other premises, including the staff room, hallways, and staircases. Regular ventilation and quartz treatment of the premises are also being conducted in the morning and between shifts.”
She noted that the teacher underwent a medical examination annually, just like all other staff members.
A parent meeting was held at the educational institution with the participation of representatives from the State Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance and a phthisiatrist from Family Medicine Center No. 6. The phthisiatrist explained to the parents the important aspects of tuberculosis and the procedure for medical monitoring of children who had contact with the infected individual.
In accordance with the directive, children from four seventh grades and two eighth grades have been assigned R-Mantoux tests and X-rays. They will be under the supervision of a phthisiatrist for two years.
Specialists from the State Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance clarified that the other students do not require examination, and closing the school is not necessary. According to medical professionals, tuberculosis is a social problem, and no one, regardless of social status, is protected from it.
“Unfortunately, cases of the disease are identified during annual examinations, which has also occurred in other schools in the Oktyabrsky district among both students and teachers. In this regard, measures are being taken to prevent and combat this disease. Tuberculosis is curable; however, it requires time,” the specialists informed the parents.
