The first crematorium in Kazakhstan will begin operations in Almaty soon. This became known thanks to information from the city's public health department, reports Tengrinews.kz.

On January 9 of this year, an order from the Ministry of National Economy was registered with the Ministry of Justice, which includes amendments to the standard rules for burial and the organization of care for graves.

Currently, work is ongoing to approve the price list for cremation services, which will go through the supervisory board of the Almaty City Pathological Bureau. Information about tariffs and the procedure for providing services will be posted on the bureau's official website.

In September of last year, the Department of Communal Infrastructure and Housing Inspection of Almaty stated that within the next six to seven years, there will be no space left for burials in the city's cemeteries. According to their data, as of 2025, there were 70 cemeteries in Almaty, of which 61 are already closed. New burial sites are being approved; however, they will be located in the Almaty region.
