In May 2025, a nationwide testing took place, where many participants chose to take tests in three subjects, while some even opted for six or seven. Data on this is presented in the report from the Center for Assessment in Education and Learning Methods (CAELM) here.

According to information from the report, this may indicate that by the end of school, students have not yet decided on their future profession and are eager to take as many tests as possible, hoping for successful admission. For example, if they cannot get into a medical university, they consider alternatives such as language faculties.

CAELM clarifies that the choice of subject tests depends on the specialty that applicants plan to pursue. The most common is taking one subject test; however, to enroll in the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy and some private medical universities, it is necessary to take two tests — in chemistry and biology.

The most popular subject for testing among applicants turned out to be history, while Russian language and literature, introduced in 2020, were chosen the least.

Each year, interest in subject tests in English is growing. At the same time, as in previous years, physics remains less popular among ORT participants.

According to the report, applicants face greater difficulties when taking subject tests than during the main testing. The highest average score was recorded for those tested in English (88.2). The average scores in natural science subjects in 2025 show slight variations: mathematics — 65.4, biology — 63.1, chemistry — 61. The average score in physics was 59.4, which is 2.2 percent lower compared to the previous year, which may be related to the shortage of teachers in the country's schools.

The average scores in the humanities subjects were: Kyrgyz language and literature — 72.5, Russian language and literature — 71.5, history — 69.8.

The authors of the report emphasize that overall, the average scores for subject tests are not high. However, the results of the 2025 testing in all subjects, except for physics, were 2-6 points higher than in 2024.

It should be noted that since 2012, ORT has been mandatory for all universities in the country, regardless of ownership. Nevertheless, there are a number of specialties and fields for which testing results are not mandatory, such as physical education, sports, culture, and the arts.
