At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 14, deputy Gulya Kozhokulova raised the issue of the need to build a dormitory for the companions of cancer patients who come to Bishkek for treatment. According to her, residents of the Oktobersky district, living near the National Center for Oncology and Hematology, approached her with this request.

Kozhokulova noted that many companions face financial difficulties and cannot afford to stay in hotels. In winter, they find temporary housing with local residents; however, in summer, the situation worsens, and many relatives sleep in yards.

She emphasized that it is necessary for the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Health to consider the possibility of building a dormitory or boarding house for the relatives of cancer patients. "Cancer patients are a very vulnerable group, suffering from severe illnesses that require attentive care. Fortunately, caring homeowners nearby help, but this is not enough," the deputy added.

Reminding that Minister of Health Kanbek Dosmambetov is already working on the issue of accommodation for companions of children with cancer, Kozhokulova noted that this is also relevant for adult patients.

"Measures need to be taken: perhaps placing companions on the first floors of residential buildings of the GIK or reaching out to the business community for support. The problem is indeed serious, and the new minister should pay attention to the situation with adult oncology," concluded Gulya Kozhokulova.
