At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh held on January 14, Elvira Surabaldiyeva raised the issue of problems arising from restrictions on the entry of citizens of Kazakhstan into Kyrgyzstan. She noted that new rules were introduced in Kazakhstan on September 1, under which Kyrgyz citizens cannot stay on its territory for more than 90 days within a six-month period. These measures came into full effect in Kyrgyzstan on December 1.

Surabaldiyeva emphasized that many citizens were not properly informed about these changes. In particular, she mentioned a woman who is a citizen of Kazakhstan and of Kyrgyz nationality, who works as a teacher in Bishkek. She got married and has two children. After a trip to Almaty to visit her parents, the teacher faced a problem: she was banned from returning to Kyrgyzstan, which jeopardizes her job. "Yes, both countries imposed restrictions, but this affects not dozens, but hundreds of people. I urge the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Border Service to pay attention to this," the deputy added.
