Countries that are part of the Commonwealth of Independent States have begun mutual recognition and enforcement of court orders for the collection of alimony for minor children. This is reported by "Vedomosti".

This innovation was approved by the State Duma and pertains to two ratified conventions on legal assistance: the Chisinau Convention, signed in 2002, and the Minsk Convention, adopted in 1993. Amendments to these documents were introduced by President Vladimir Putin in early January.

Now, alimony collectors will be able to file motions in court for the recognition and enforcement of court orders. To do this, they will need to present an official document confirming that the order has come into legal force and is subject to enforcement, unless this is stated in the order itself. A copy of the court order will also be required, certifying its delivery or sending to the debtor. All submitted documents must be translated into Russian or the language of the country where the application is submitted, and properly certified.
