Will residential complexes or underground parking be built here?
The process of filling the quarry in the 12th microdistrict of Bishkek continues, and this information has been confirmed by local residents in an interview with Vesti.kg.
According to them, trucks are transporting soil to fill the quarry throughout the day and night.
Residents are asking the question: “If the quarry is completely filled, will the soil need to be compacted to avoid building collapses?”
If construction is indeed planned, local residents have suggested considering the possibility of creating underground garages in the area.
We remind you that residents of Bishkek previously reported plans to build residential houses on the site of this large quarry located in the southern part of the capital.
The soil for filling is planned to be sourced from the nearby hills.

The quarry in the 12th microdistrict of Bishkek (near Aaly Tokombaev Street) is a significant industrial site that has been in operation since 1968 for the extraction of sand, gravel, and sand-gravel mix. In October 2023, an area of over 60 hectares was returned to the state, and the city administration intends to use it to improve road infrastructure.
The new Eastern bypass road (16–32 km), which will run along the southern part of the quarry, aims to relieve traffic entering from the Kant side. The project includes a 4-lane road connecting the southern microdistricts (Zhukejeva-Pudovkina) with Kok-Jar, Kara-Jygach, and Novopokrovka, as well as an overpass bridge and five interchanges. Work on the project began in late 2025.
Additionally, last year, the demolition of garages located near the quarry was announced.
