Ministry of Health: It is unacceptable to cover up doctors' violations, but pursuing medical professionals is also not allowed

The agency commented on the arrest of a pediatric nephrologist.

A pediatric nephrologist from the National Center for Maternal and Child Health was detained in Bishkek. She is suspected of negligence that led to the amputation of a leg of one of her patients. This situation prompted a response from the Ministry of Health.

"We, at the Ministry of Health, adhere to legal norms and protect the rights of both patients and medical workers. Our position is that any legal assessments should be based on facts and professional expertise," the agency stated.

Health Minister Kanbek Dosmambetov immediately contacted the relevant state authorities upon receiving the information. He emphasized the need for an impartial and thorough analysis of the circumstances of the case, taking into account all medical and expert conclusions, including the possibility of applying measures not related to imprisonment.

The Ministry underscores the importance of balance: it is unacceptable to either cover up violations or pursue medical professionals without grounds. Each case should be resolved based on the collected facts and independent medical expertise," the agency added.

It is worth noting that on February 18, a nephrologist B.N. was detained in Bishkek. The mother of a minor patient reported to the police, claiming that due to improper treatment, her daughter's leg was amputated.

The staff of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health published a video appeal to the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, calling for an objective investigation. The medical professionals also request that a preventive measure not related to arrest be chosen for the doctor.
