At a press conference, colleagues of the detained nephrologist Nasira Beishebaeva spoke in her defense. The chief physician of the National Center for Urology and Nephrology, Aina Jetibaeva, expressed condolences to the girl's family and spoke about the patient's treatment. "The girl was hospitalized on October 11, 2024, upon referral from a group of family doctors with a preliminary diagnosis of 'glomerulonephritis'. She exhibited facial and body swelling, as well as free fluid in the abdominal cavity - anasarca," she reported.

According to Jetibaeva, all necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures were initiated upon admission. "On the third day after hospitalization, the diagnosis of 'acute glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, active stage' was confirmed. On the eighteenth day of treatment at our center, we managed to achieve partial remission. On November 11, an ultrasound confirmed the presence of 'thrombosis of the arteries and veins in the popliteal region of the right lower limb.' From November 14 to 21, examinations and treatments continued, as recommended by vascular surgeons from both the National Hospital and a private clinic. We also consulted with colleagues from St. Petersburg and Moscow. All specialists emphasized the need for a combined operation, and conservative therapy was conducted. One of the reasons for thrombosis was considered to be severe nephrotic syndrome and a history of COVID-19," she explained.

Jetibaeva added that tests confirmed thrombophilia, a genetic disorder in the homeostasis system.

On November 21, an expanded council was held at the National Hospital, where vascular surgeons, representatives from the Ministry of Health, relatives of the girl, and the patient herself gathered. "At the council, it was decided to continue conservative therapy. On November 23, it was decided to perform an amputation of the right leg at the thigh level, but the parents refused this procedure. At the request of the relatives, the girl was transferred to Turkey on November 25. Unfortunately, after the operation, her condition did not improve, and a partial amputation of the lower limb was performed," the chief physician noted.

Jetibaeva reported that, following the mother's statement, the State National Security Committee was conducting an investigation into the case by the Ministry of Health's service commission, as well as an assessment of the work of the forensic medical examination commission. She emphasized that Nasira Beishebaeva has been working as a doctor for 30 years and has established herself as a highly qualified specialist.

The chief physician also added: "This is not negligence, but a result of the progression of the underlying disease. As I have already mentioned, COVID-19 led to serious complications. Unfortunately, similar cases occur in medicine. This did not depend on the actions of Nasira Adylbekovna. Throughout the entire time, she actively interacted with all authorities and colleagues, and multiple councils were held, but unfortunately, circumstances developed this way," she emphasized.

Due to the detention of the nephrologist, according to Jetibaeva, the planned kidney transplant at the center is now at risk. To date, 80 kidney transplants have been performed at the National Center for Urology and Nephrology. The last patient who underwent surgery requires corrective therapy, for which Beishebaeva was responsible. Medical professionals once again appealed for house arrest for the nephrologist.

Recall that on February 18, Nasira Beishebaeva, a nephrologist and candidate of medical sciences, was detained in Bishkek. According to the Bishkek City Police Department, the mother of the patient filed a complaint about a possible medical error that led to the amputation of the right lower limb in 2024.

A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect under part 2 of Article 146 "Improper performance of professional duties by a medical or pharmaceutical worker, resulting in serious harm through negligence" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

She was detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek City Police Department.

The staff of the National Center for Urology and Nephrology appealed on social media to the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, requesting a fair investigation of the case and proposed alternative measures of restraint for Beishebaeva.

The Minister of Health, Kanbek Dosmambetov, emphasized the need for a thorough and impartial analysis of all the circumstances of the case.
