At the end of last week, at the "AgroDialogue-2026" forum, Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev announced the start of a project to build modern refrigerated warehouses for storing vegetables and fruits, according to information from the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Minister emphasized that the implementation of this project will help solve the problem of crop losses faced by agricultural producers due to the lack of modern storage facilities after harvest. The creation of such warehouses will ensure the preservation of the quality of agricultural products, expand processing and export opportunities.
“The Ministry will provide full support to farmers, agribusinessmen, and processors in the construction of modern refrigerated warehouses. The creation of facilities that meet international standards is an important step towards increasing the efficiency of the agro-industrial complex, developing the processing of agricultural products, and strengthening the country's food security,” noted Bakyt Torobaev.
The initiative is aimed at comprehensive support for agricultural producers and agribusiness, as well as the development of storage and processing infrastructure, which will create new jobs and enhance Kyrgyzstan's competitiveness in regional and international markets.
The Ministry plans to implement the program within the framework of a public-private partnership, attracting investors. The program includes full support for projects—from design to construction, operation, and certification according to storage standards. The agency will also provide consultations on effective management of agricultural product inventories and logistics. This project aims to increase farmers' incomes and reduce losses.
