Janarbek Akayev, the mayor of the southern capital, announced ambitious plans for greening and improving urban infrastructure. In a press release from the local administration, it was reported that during his city tour, he emphasized the need to create a "green, clean, and comfortable Osh" by 2026.

The mayor noted that every thoughtless tree or branch cut down causes him concern, as green spaces provide shade, clean air, and health for future generations.

Akayev also stated that city services have been instructed to strengthen control over cleanliness in the streets and yards, eliminate garbage, and complete ongoing landscaping projects.

This year, it is planned to plant about 20,000 trees and nearly 2 million ornamental flowers. In addition, the city hall is in dialogue with patrons to obtain an additional 10,000 seedlings.

“If we do not engage in active greening, the level of dust and air pollution will only increase,” noted the mayor of Osh.

He also emphasized the importance of creating green spaces in the yards of apartment buildings and increasing the number of small parks. According to Akayev, every resident should have the opportunity to step outside and find themselves in a well-maintained area with trees and flowers. This initiative will be supported within the framework of the republican initiative "Zhashyl Muras," which was initiated by President Sadyr Japarov.

The mayor stressed that greening should not be a temporary action but a permanent strategy for the city.

Akayev called on universities, schools, enterprises, and businesses to improve neighboring areas and participate in the city initiative.

“Planting a tree is just the first step. The main thing is to take care of each seedling as if it were your own child. Without proper care, nothing will grow,” emphasized Janarbek Akayev.

He expressed gratitude to the municipal services and active citizens who work daily on cleaning and greening the city and expressed confidence that, through joint efforts, Osh can truly become a green city.

The municipality intends to present new projects soon, which, as the mayor noted, “will benefit thousands of residents” and continue the work on landscaping and ecological renewal of the southern capital.
