According to the press service of the ministry, the main areas of work will be improving the quality of medical services for mothers and newborns, as well as implementing measures to reduce risks associated with maternal and infant mortality.
The country operates a three-tiered system of perinatal care, which ensures continuity and consistency in the provision of medical services. Specialized third-level care is provided at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, the Kyrgyz Scientific Center for Human Reproduction, and the maternity hospital of the Osh Interregional Clinical Hospital.
As of today, the healthcare system has 2,167 maternity beds, 741 gynecological beds, and 521 beds for women with pregnancy pathologies.
According to data, the coverage of pregnant women with antenatal monitoring remains high at 91.7 percent. Active construction of perinatal centers is underway in the Talas and Osh regions, which will increase access to specialized care for women in these areas and reduce the time for routing patients.
