At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on International Affairs, Defense, Security, and Migration, the Consul General of Kyrgyzstan, Maksat Tentimishov, shared information about the difficult situation faced by labor migrants in Yekaterinburg.

According to the diplomat, there are 14,730 citizens of Kyrgyzstan registered with the consulate, and most of them are facing serious problems.

The difficulties are mainly related to a lack of knowledge about migration rules and the legal aspects of the legislation of the Russian Federation. This leads to challenges in obtaining the necessary documents and bureaucratic delays.

Additionally, the Consul General noted that his institution actively monitors the situation of Kyrgyz citizens serving sentences in Russian prisons. The process of extraditing these citizens back to their homeland requires significant time and the preparation of numerous documents.

Among labor migrants, there have also been cases of fraud by employers. Maksat Tentimishov reported that the consular service has already helped 24 citizens receive their unpaid wages.

Deputies Elvira Surabaldiyeva and Gulya Kozhokulova urged the Consul General to take more active measures. They emphasized that it is important not only to address individual cases but also to systematically protect the rights of all migrants and to continuously inform them about the rules of stay in Russia.
