Salary Increase. Medical Workers Fear They Will Be Left Without Category Bonuses
According to the medical professionals, it is also worth considering the cancellation of the labor participation coefficient (LPC), which constitutes a significant part of their income.
“The LPC is an important element of salary and a tool for assessing a doctor's work. If it is canceled, this will lead to salary equalization, which will reduce doctors' motivation for higher quality work, and they will simply wait for a fixed salary. Ultimately, the anticipated salary increase may not be as significant,” shared the opinion of one medical worker who wished to remain anonymous.
The Ministry of Health assured that medical professionals should not worry about the upcoming salary increase.

“Category allowances will not be canceled. The issue of the LPC is under review, and we are working to ensure that it is not completely abolished. It is possible that this allowance will be renamed. We are actively cooperating with the Ministry of Finance to ensure a salary increase for medical professionals. The salary is formed based on the base salary multiplied by the multiplicity coefficient. The base salary will remain the same, while the coefficient will increase, leading to a rise in the salary,” explained representatives of the department.
Earlier, the authorities announced a 100% salary increase for educators and medical workers starting April 1.
According to the president, the average salary of doctors is 31,500 soms, and starting April 1, it will reach 62,500 soms (around 50,000 net).
“In urban areas, a newly graduated doctor with no experience currently earns 16,900 soms, and after the increase, their salary will be 42,100 soms, of which they will take home about 35,500. In remote mountainous areas, a doctor of the highest qualification category with 30 years of experience will earn 91,700 soms for one position, from which they will take home around 75,700,” noted Sadyr Japarov.
As part of the salary increase for medical professionals and educators, a presidential compensation to the salary is expected to be introduced.
Representatives of the educational community and the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan have appealed to the Prime Minister with a request to revise the draft resolution on teachers' salaries. They express dissatisfaction with the significant differences in the multiplicity coefficients of teachers' salaries across different subjects. Historians fear that even with a 100% salary increase, they will still earn less than primary school teachers or those teaching STEAM subjects.
