The Honorary Consulate of Montenegro has opened in Bishkek
Two significant events in Kyrgyz-Montenegrin relations took place in Bishkek: official negotiations and the opening of the honorary consulate.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, met with Ervin Ibrahimovic, the head of the foreign policy agency of Montenegro, who made his first official visit to Kyrgyzstan as part of bilateral relations.

During the conversation, Jeenbek Kulubaev detailed the significant political and economic reforms being implemented in Kyrgyzstan to achieve sustainable development and create favorable conditions for investment. Special attention was given to major projects such as the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the "Kambar-Ata-1" hydropower plant.

In discussing bilateral issues, the ministers noted the similarities between the two countries: Kyrgyzstan and Montenegro are dynamically developing mountainous states with rich water resources and significant tourism potential. In this context, the parties emphasized the opportunities for cooperation in hydropower and the "green" economy, as well as agreed on active experience exchange in the field of tourism.

An important aspect of the negotiations was the institutional development of bilateral relations. The parties discussed the expansion of cooperation at the governmental level, the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue, and the improvement of the legal framework.

The significance of a joint mountain agenda, cooperation in climate change adaptation, and environmental protection was also discussed.

In this regard, the Kyrgyz side invited the Montenegrin delegation to participate in the VI World Nomad Games and the second Global Mountain Summit "Bishkek+25".

The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperation program between the foreign ministries of the two countries for 2026–2027 and a memorandum on joint training of diplomatic personnel.

On the same day, the official opening of the Honorary Consulate of Montenegro took place, headed by Beknazar Asanov.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Meder Abakirov, noted that there is much in common between the two countries, including mountains and clear skies, which creates a foundation for mutual understanding.

Ervin Ibrahimovic emphasized the importance of his visit and expressed hope for further development of dialogue.

"Montenegro has a clear vision for its development after 20 years of independence. We continue to contribute to global stability and are interested in creating new connections and opportunities in areas such as tourism, energy, and agriculture," he said.
