The project for modernizing the electrical networks will start in the capital as part of preparations for the autumn-winter season of 2026-2027.
“As part of the tariff policy aimed at strengthening the energy sector and updating infrastructure, measures are being implemented in the country that will help reduce losses in the energy system. A large-scale modernization of the electric grid infrastructure is underway in Bishkek. In 2026, work is planned for the installation and reconstruction of over 40,700 kilometers of SIP cable. The work will take place from March to November and will affect key sections of the urban power grid,” the agency reported.
The project includes the following activities:
- updating outdated power transmission lines;
- replacing old wires with modern insulated SIP;
- installing new poles and reinforcing existing ones;
- connecting new clients and developing networks in residential areas;
- reducing the load on existing lines;
- reducing technological losses of electricity.
Particular attention will be paid to the resilience of electrical networks to winter conditions. The use of SIP cable ensures:
- prevention of snow accumulation and ice formation;
- reduction of short circuit risks;
- guaranteed stable electricity supply even in adverse weather conditions.
The implementation of this project will achieve the following results:
- improvement of the quality and stability of electricity supply;
- significant reduction in accidents in the networks;
- decrease in electricity losses during transmission;
- reliable operation of the energy system in winter;
- creation of conditions for connecting new consumers.
The planned works will significantly increase the capacity of the electrical networks, reduce accidents and electricity losses, providing users with more reliable and quality electricity supply during peak loads of the autumn-winter season.
Funding for these activities will be provided from the own funds of JSC "NESC."
