In Bishkek, scientists from SCO countries discuss advanced medical technologies

In Bishkek, a significant international event is taking place these days — the largest medical forum, attended by prominent scientists, professors, and leaders of major medical institutions from SCO countries. It was noted that the city has never hosted a forum of this level before. The meeting will include the VIII conference of the SCO Hospital Alliance, the "Mirrahimov Readings," Russian Medicine Days, and the first congress of the Association of Interventional Cardiologists and Endovascular Surgeons.

Professor Talantbek Batyraliev, the chief non-staff cardiologist of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, welcoming the forum participants, emphasized that this event is not just a discussion of current issues in cardiology, but also a tribute to the outstanding scientist, Academician Mirsaid Mirrahimov, who significantly influenced global cardiology and trained numerous specialists. He called on the participants to honor the memory of Mirsaid Mirhamidovich and his students, which was met with a standing ovation and applause.

Traditionally, in the run-up to the birthday of Mirsaid Mirrahimov, celebrated on March 27, the "Mirrahimov Readings" take place in Kyrgyzstan. This year, they conclude with the presentation of awards for achievements in cardiology. The Gold Medal named after Mirsaid Mirrahimov was awarded to Evgeny Shlyakhto, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and president of the Russian Society of Cardiology, who has made a significant contribution to science by publishing over a thousand scientific works and defending numerous dissertations. The winners of the young scientists' competition, to which the academician paid special attention, were also traditionally announced.

Kyrgyzstan's Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov noted that the knowledge and experience of the forum participants are vital for thousands of people. He emphasized the importance of combining technology and the professionalism of doctors in treating cardiovascular diseases, which require highly qualified assistance.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Murat Dadabaev, head of the department of endovascular surgery of the heart and vessels, noted in an interview with vb.kg that the congress of the Association of Interventional Cardiologists and Endovascular Surgeons is being held for the first time at the "Mirrahimov Readings," featuring leading experts in this field. He spoke about the implementation of new technologies, such as intravascular sensors for visualizing coronary arteries, which allow for precise measurement of vessel parameters and safe conduct of surgeries.

For the first time, surgeries using biodegradable stents and drug-coated balloons were also performed, which, according to the professor, can be implemented in Kyrgyzstan to improve medical care.

Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Health Damir Osmonov emphasized that cardiovascular and non-communicable diseases pose serious challenges to the healthcare system. In the country, they account for more than half of mortality cases. He noted that addressing this issue requires not only treatment but also systemic changes in the prevention and diagnosis of diseases. In this regard, the "Healthy Heart" program for 2025–2030 is being implemented, aimed at creating a modern and integrated approach to healthcare.

Damir Osmonov also reported on the large-scale modernization of the National Center for Cardiology and Therapy, which is expected to become a high-tech institution. He noted that an important aspect of the future of medicine is digital technologies and artificial intelligence, which help identify risks and improve diagnostics.

Professor Osmonov added that international cooperation plays a key role in sharing experiences and implementing best practices, allowing for more effective solutions to common problems. The "Mirrahimov Readings" serve as a platform for discussing solutions that can save lives.

Igor Pershukov, professor and head of the department of hospital therapy at Jalal-Abad State University, noted in an interview with vb.kg the importance of collaboration among cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and endovascular surgeons in developing effective treatment methods. He emphasized that continuous work and new approaches are necessary to change the current situation of high mortality from cardiovascular diseases.

Kairat Ergeshov, director of the Southern Regional Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery, expressed optimism regarding the modernization of medical institutions and reforms aimed at improving the quality of medical care.

The forum's program includes various scientific sessions, discussions, and master classes, where the implementation of digital technologies and new approaches to organizing medical services will be discussed. The signing of memorandums of cooperation between the National Center for Cardiology and international scientific and medical institutions from SCO countries is also planned, as noted by the center's director Talant Eraliyev.
