A powerful earthquake struck the southern and central parts of Mexico, causing the country's president, Claudia Sheinbaum, to interrupt her first press briefing of the new year. This was reported by Euronews. Experts assessed the magnitude of the tremors at 6.5. The epicenter was located near the city of San Marcos, close to the resort of Acapulco on the Pacific coast, at a depth of about 35 kilometers.
