The State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports explained the reasons why the Dolon Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek is unavailable for runners.

It has been revealed that the temporary restrictions are related to the need to comply with technological standards during the installation of the running tracks.

“At the moment, the first layer of the special surface has been laid on nine tracks. In accordance with international and construction standards, this layer must undergo a mandatory technological curing period, which lasts at least one year. This is critical to ensure the strength of the base and the durability of the surface,” the agency clarified.

The installation of the second (finishing) layer is only possible in stable warm weather.

“Failure to adhere to the technology or premature use of the surface may lead to its deformation, which, in turn, will result in the misallocation of budget funds,” the State Agency added.

The main repair and reconstruction work was completed in 2024, after which the stadium received official operational status. Currently, it is necessary to complete the work on the running tracks in strict accordance with established norms.

After all technological processes are completed and the second layer of the surface is laid, the stadium will operate in accordance with the current rules for the operation of sports facilities.
