The Head of the Tourism Support Fund Discussed the Strengthening Role of Local Self-Government Bodies in Kyrgyzstan
In his opinion, the powers of district akims and heads of ayil okmotu, as well as local representative bodies such as ayil kenesh, have been significantly strengthened, allowing for decision-making at the local level.
“This creates an opportunity for the prompt resolution of pressing social and everyday issues directly on the ground,” he noted.
Januzakov added that akims and heads of regions have the necessary tools and mechanisms to address most issues within their authority. In situations where a problem goes beyond their competence, it can be referred to regional administrations or the presidential representatives in the regions for further resolution at the level of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“This hierarchy and interaction mechanisms are functioning quite effectively today,” he emphasized.
Moreover, the head of the Tourism Support and Development Fund noted that the fund is also actively involved in this process. If the issues under consideration pertain to the tourism sector, the fund is ready to offer consulting and practical assistance, visit the sites to assess the situation, and, if necessary, assist in attracting financial resources.
According to Januzakov, the development of territories and the resolution of infrastructure issues require a comprehensive and systematic approach.
“This is extensive work that cannot be solved by the efforts of one person or one organization. All problems must be considered and resolved collectively,” he concluded.
