- Kyrgyzstan sets ambitious goals for the period until 2029: a 20% reduction in energy intensity of GDP and a 25% increase in agricultural productivity. This was stated by Amantur Tolebekov, the chief specialist of the international financing department for green economy and tourism at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in an interview with a local publication.

Tolebekov noted that the program for the development of the "green economy" covers several key sectors, including energy, agriculture, transport, tourism, and waste management.

In the energy sector, the construction of small hydropower plants, as well as solar and wind power plants, is planned. Additionally, a number of energy-efficient technologies will be implemented in buildings to reduce electricity losses.

Regarding agriculture, the plan includes the use of drip irrigation and hydro-pneumatic systems, as well as the modernization of water supply infrastructure. These measures will allow for a 25% increase in productivity and the restoration of ecosystems across 30% of the country's territory.

In the transport sector, the focus will be on developing infrastructure for electric vehicles, which should account for 5% of the total by 2029. Tourism and the hotel industry will also transition to environmentally friendly technologies, implementing energy-efficient standards and waste recycling systems.

According to Tolebekov, successful implementation of the program requires funding and the presence of qualified specialists; however, achieving the set goals is quite realistic if all conditions are met.

He added that within the framework of international cooperation, projects are already underway with Germany and Japan, including the insulation of municipal buildings and the organization of secondary material collection in schools.

Note:

On October 1, a program for the development of the green economy until 2029 was approved in Kyrgyzstan. This document has been developed to implement the principles of the green economy and environmentally friendly solutions at various levels, especially in key sectors of the country's economy.
