Demand for energy specialists. Preparation of professional specialists has begun

Currently, there is a significant demand for energy specialists in Kyrgyzstan, comparable to the needs for teachers and doctors. With an emphasis on the development of "green" energy, more specialists are needed to implement new technologies in this field.

The active construction of small and large hydropower plants, solar and wind power plants, as well as the implementation of various projects with investors demonstrate that the energy sector in the country is actively developing.

As noted by the Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Talaibek Ibraev, highly qualified specialists are needed to implement these projects.

“We have started cooperation with vocational school No. 100 to prepare specialists who will work at solar and wind stations. Trained personnel will receive new jobs. According to our estimates, there is a shortage of about one thousand workers in the energy sector. Anyone interested can contact our ministry, and we will direct them to power plants,” the minister added.

According to Joodar Saidilkan, an entrepreneur and head of a construction and engineering company, highly qualified personnel are needed for the construction of hydropower plants and solar power stations, and the first project with a capacity of 300 MW is now being launched.

“It is possible to build solar stations within six months. We can install panels not only on large facilities but also on building rooftops, which allows for increased capacity. Our projects involve about 500 employees, but we lack around 100 specialists for the installation of solar panels,” he noted.

Thus, the growing interest in the profession of energy specialist meets modern requirements. In this regard, specialists from other fields are beginning retraining to become energy specialists. One such example is 22-year-old Imamidin Umotaliev.

“Previously, I worked in another field and have a law degree. Currently, I am taking a three-month course to obtain a profession in energy related to the installation and dismantling of solar and wind power stations. Employers are showing interest and reporting available vacancies,” he said.

Vocational school No. 100 in Bishkek is actively participating in solving the problem of staff shortages. The director of this educational institution, Indira Kuralbekova, noted that training is conducted within the framework of three-month courses.

“We are preparing specialists for the energy sector. Currently, we have about 500 students, mainly graduates of grades 9 and 11. We organize short courses on welding, electrical installation, and solar panel installation. Training is available for citizens aged 35 to 55, allowing more people to acquire a new profession,” Kuralbekova emphasized.
