In Bishkek, the active longevity program was discussed

A meeting dedicated to the active longevity program was held in Bishkek. This initiative, created by the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic, aims to improve the lives of elderly citizens.

Representatives from government agencies, international organizations, and the civil sector attended the event. The discussion was opened by Deputy Minister Ainura Orozbaeva, Deputy Mayor Victoria Mozgacheva, UNFPA analyst Asel Turgunova, advisor to the European Center for Social Welfare Alexander Sidenko, and chairperson of the NGO "Resource Center for the Elderly" Svetlana Bashtovenko.

During the meeting, an analytical review titled "Aging Population of the Kyrgyz Republic: Challenges and Prospects," based on the 2022 census data, was presented. Expert Valentin Bogatyrev emphasized the need to adapt social policy to changes in the age structure of the population.

Special attention was given to the development of the State Program "Active Longevity" for 2025–2030, which was discussed by Nazgul Cholumova. Experts from CIS countries shared successful examples of involving elderly people in public life.

The Bishkek municipality is taking supportive measures for elderly citizens: institutions "Ümüt üyi" and "Ardager" are operating, where 48 social workers assist 535 lonely elderly individuals. Elderly citizens receive scholarships, housing subsidies, utility discounts, and free transportation.

Meeting participants noted the importance of joint efforts by the state, society, and international partners to foster a culture of active longevity and ensure a dignified life for elderly citizens.
