In the Kemin district, in the village of Ak-Tyuz, a memorial complex was opened to commemorate the miners and veterans. This became known thanks to information provided by the Russian House in Bishkek.

This year, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the residents of the village established a memorial at its entrance. The first part of the memorial, which includes an arch and an obelisk with the names of war participants, was opened on May 9, and on December 6, an obelisk was ceremoniously unveiled, inscribed with the names of local residents who worked in lead mines in the 1930s-50s.

The opening ceremony was attended by village residents, descendants of miners, and prominent natives of Ak-Tyuz.

“We celebrated this important anniversary of Victory together. The residents of our village, who worked here, have forever inscribed their names in the history of Victory, and you, dear compatriots, have left your names in the chronicle of memory of the anniversary. We express our immense gratitude for your labor and civic feat,” emphasized Albert Zulkharnayev, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Kyrgyzstan.

The opening ceremony was held under the slogan “Here the rear was the front.” In the 1940s, the residents of Ak-Tyuz actively worked, contributing to the Victory over fascism. The lead ore mined here, starting in 1942, was sent to the defense factories of the Soviet Union. This lead was used for the production of batteries, armored vehicles, cars, submarines, and firearms. The miners worked in extremely difficult conditions, meeting the needs of the country. From Ak-Tyuz, 144 people went to the front, two of whom, Ivan Nemtsov and Alexey Krivoshchekov, were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

Kaldybek Suranchiev, the initiator of the monument's creation, said: “The idea of creating a memorial came to me back in 2019. Here, the names of those who fought in the Great Patriotic War and the miners who worked in the mines are immortalized. I prepared the project of the complex, and the funds for its construction were collected by the whole village.”

Albert Zulkharnayev also donated textbooks and fiction to the Ak-Tyuz secondary school.

“Unfortunately, reading among children has become a rarity, and we strive to return their love for books. Thank you for the new books; we hope they will be interesting for the children,” noted teacher Aina Begalieva.
