Full Cavalier of the Order of Glory Abdurashid Parpiev

Abdurashid Parpiev

Participant of the Great Patriotic War, full cavalier of the Order of Glory, chairman of the Kalinin collective farm in the Karasuu district, deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR for two convocations.

Born on January 14, 1914, in the village of Shark, Karasuu district, Osh region of Kyrgyzstan, in a peasant family. Of Uzbek nationality. Received a secondary education. Worked as the chief accountant at the Molotov collective farm in the Osh district.

In 1941, he was sent to Tashkent to an artillery school. However, soon after completing his training, he returned home and continued working as an accountant.

In October 1942, he was drafted into the Red Army. He was at the front from February 1943. He participated in the Great Patriotic War as part of the Southwestern, 3rd Ukrainian, and 1st Belorussian fronts. He fought as a commander of a crew of a 45-mm gun. He crossed the North Donets River, liberated Kovel, broke through the enemy's defenses on the Vistula River, and participated in battles for the liberation of the cities of Lodz, Kutno, Lenczyca, Gniezno, and Poznan. He completed his last victorious battle in Berlin. In 1944, he joined the VKP(b)/CPSU.

On February 1, 1944, during an offensive battle near the village of Krasnoe (Nikopol district, Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukrainian SSR), Guards Senior Sergeant Parpiev, with his subordinates from an open position, hit 3 enemy firing points and more than a squad of enemy infantry with gunfire.

By an order dated March 6, 1944, Guards Senior Sergeant Parpiev was awarded the Order of Glory 3rd class (No. 31160).
On July 18, 1944, during the breakthrough of the enemy's defenses near the railway station Matseyuv (Turiy district, Volyn region), he discovered an enemy gun and knocked it and its entire crew out of action with three shots. While pursuing the enemy, he destroyed 2 carts with military supplies and several Germans with gunfire.

It was a hard day of war when everyone had to do their difficult job to bring Victory closer by another day, another hour. There was no time to think about fatigue, no time to think about death, no time to complain about the heat and dust. Our infantry rose to attack several times, and each time the attack faltered, beardless boys and mature men fell under the strong aimed fire of the enemy: an enemy small-caliber gun, standing on direct fire, entered the battle, and there was nowhere for our soldiers to hide.

“We need to destroy the gun!” — Abdurashid repeated to himself through clenched teeth. “It must be destroyed at all costs.”

The command sounded: “Fire!” Parpiev repeated his command two more times, and the enemy gun fell silent.

The attack of our troops continued, gaining strength, and soon the Germans were put to flight... The infantry had gone far ahead when Parpiev's crew discovered an enemy convoy. And again the command sounded: “Fire!” The enemy convoy and the soldiers accompanying it were destroyed.

For this battle, by an order dated October 6, 1944, Guards Senior Sergeant Parpiev was awarded the Order of Glory 2nd class (No. 5484).

In the battle for Berlin, he displayed examples of bravery, courage, and determination, as well as exceptional skill in urban combat. On April 16, 1945, during the assault on the height southeast of the city of Zelow (Germany), Parpiev's crew suppressed 2 pillboxes and 3 machine-gun positions. In street battles in Berlin, with accurate fire, he paved the way for the infantry, created passages through barbed wire obstacles, and killed a large number of Germans.

The breakthrough of the German defenses began in the area of Ludwigslust height. Parpiev's gun participated in the overall artillery preparation — Abdurashid and his comrades created passages through the barbed wire obstacles with aimed fire, which the infantry used, destroyed a machine gun, two pillboxes, and up to a platoon of infantry. Then the fighting began on the streets of Berlin. This is how it is described in the award sheet of Abdurashid Parpiev: “The gun was rolled out for direct fire, the fascists were shot at point-blank range, and this ensured our infantry's successful assault-capture of the height.

In street battles in Berlin, while crossing the canal, Parpiev and his gun crossed directly with the infantry, destroying two enemy machine-gun positions along with their crews, thereby ensuring a favorable crossing of the canal and contributing to the development of success behind them.” And again, the award sheet ends with the words: “Deserves the Order of Glory 1st class.”

Soon after Victory in 1945, Guards Senior Sergeant Parpiev was demobilized.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 15, 1946, for exceptional courage, bravery, and fearlessness displayed in the final stage of the Great Patriotic War in battles against the German invaders, Guards Senior Sergeant Abdurashid Parpiev was awarded the Order of Glory 1st class (No. 2836). He became a full cavalier of the Order of Glory.

War hero Parpiev Abdurashid made a significant contribution to the development of the economy of his native Kyrgyzstan. After returning from the front, he worked as the chief accountant of the collective farm. In 1956, he graduated from agrozootechnical courses without interrupting his work. From 1962 to 1974, he was the chairman of the famous Kalinin collective farm in the Karasuu district, was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR for two convocations, and was repeatedly elected as a deputy of the Osh regional council.

For his selfless work in collective farm production, A. Parpiev was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, two Orders of the Badge of Honor, and numerous medals. He was three times awarded the Honorary Certificate of the Supreme Soviet of the Kyrgyz SSR.

He died on November 2, 1974.

In the city of Osh, on the eve of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Second World War, a monument was erected to the veteran of the Second World War, full cavalier of the Order of Glory Abdurashid Parpiev.
