- The importance of creating integrated terminals at railway hubs, ports, and border crossings is emphasized in the EDB report (2025).

The document discusses multimodal logistics hubs and the concept of "dry ports." According to experts, such terminals should include warehouses for temporary storage, container yards, and customs posts.

These multimodal complexes will significantly simplify the process of transshipping containers between different modes of transport and accelerate movement along international transport corridors, such as the North-South International Transport Corridor (ITC) and TMTM.

An example of a successful "dry port" in Central Asia is Khorgos, located on the border of Kazakhstan and China, which has significantly increased the volume of container transit, as noted in the report.

According to EDB specialists, countries in the region can adapt similar models at key transport hubs, creating a unified network of logistics centers.

This will not only speed up the delivery process but also enable regions such as the Fergana Valley and the South Caucasus to become important transit hubs between Asia and Europe, the authors of the study report.
According to EDB estimates, the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan has the potential to create a joint logistics park with Uzbekistan, whose refrigeration capacities could serve both countries.

The Fergana Valley (Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan) is a strategically important region at the intersection of three states, characterized by a high population density and developed agricultural traditions. A significant portion of Uzbekistan's fruit and vegetable production (particularly from the Andijan and Fergana regions) and the southern part of Kyrgyzstan (Osh region) is produced here.
