The VII Meeting of Heads of Ministries and Departments of SCO Member States Concluded in Bishkek

On April 3, the VII meeting of ministers and departments of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) dealing with ecological issues concluded in Bishkek.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources, on the third day of the event, heads of delegations from SCO countries participated in a tree-planting campaign at the Ala-Archa State Natural Park.

Minister of Natural Resources Akyl Toktobaev emphasized that Kyrgyzstan initiated the creation of the "Green Belt-SCO," which symbolizes the commitment to jointly preserve ecosystems, increase forest and green areas, and strengthen measures for climate change adaptation and reducing negative impacts on nature.

The main part of the meeting continued at the State Residence No. 1. Representatives from Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the discussions, as well as the Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO, Soheil Khan.

Participants exchanged experiences in combating plastic waste, preserving biodiversity, and implementing environmentally friendly technologies. Everyone agreed that environmental challenges know no borders and require coordinated legislative and technological solutions.

The meeting concluded with the signing of the final protocol.
