



At the 20th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), held in Samarkand, Kyrgyzstan presented its experience in the conservation of rare species of animals and plants. This information was announced by representatives of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to reports, the country's delegation actively participated in the conference, sharing achievements in biodiversity conservation and the restoration of rare species.
Erkinbek Mamaev, head of the wildlife department of the Biodiversity Management Agency, presented a report on the reintroduction of the gazelle. He noted that the restoration of the gazelle population is an important step towards increasing the number of wild ungulates in the country. He also emphasized that this is significant for the conservation of the snow leopard, as the gazelle is one of the main components of its food base.
Mamaev also highlighted Kyrgyzstan's active actions on the international stage regarding biodiversity conservation and the protection of vulnerable species.
At the committee meetings of the conference, he presented his proposals aimed at improving the accessibility and effectiveness of international guidelines for wildlife trade control.
Additionally, during the conference, a bilateral meeting was held between the Kyrgyz delegation and representatives of Malta, where issues regarding strengthening control over transportation, exchanging experiences, and further developing cooperation in wildlife conservation were discussed.
