On December 30, a ceremonial handover of service vehicles for district administrations engaged in water management took place in Kyrgyzstan.

As part of this event, 44 JAC T-8 vehicles were handed over, purchased with state budget funds. Of these, 42 units went to the Water Resources Service, and 2 to the Fisheries Department. The total cost of the equipment amounted to 92.6 million soms.

This initiative is supported by the state policy implemented under the leadership of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Japarov, and aims to develop the irrigation sector and ensure the effective use of water resources. Water is becoming a crucial factor for ensuring food security and the sustainability of agriculture, as well as for the socio-economic progress of the entire country.

From 2024 to 2030, it is planned to construct 106 regulating reservoirs in the republic. Currently, work is already underway on 11 sites. These measures are aimed at preventing water shortages and improving the operation of the irrigation system.

Additionally, to improve the condition of irrigation networks, 104 units of specialized equipment will be transferred to the Water Resources Service in 2024-2025 from the budget, as well as 182 units with the help of international organizations.

The choice of JAC T-8 SUVs was made considering the challenging conditions in which specialists work. These vehicles will help respond quickly to emergencies and monitor the condition of irrigation systems, ensuring stable water supply for agricultural producers.

During the ceremony, it was emphasized that the state will continue to strengthen the material and technical base of the water management sector, modernize infrastructure, and develop human resources.

The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev, noted that the agricultural sector plays a key role in the country's economy today.

"In Kyrgyzstan, the number of processing enterprises operating on a seasonal and year-round basis has reached 425. By the president's directive, hundreds of new productions are opened annually. This year, 119 new enterprises have been launched, most of which are related to agriculture and processing," he added.

Kasymaliev also reported on the priority funding for the modernization of the irrigation sector: in 2024, 1 billion soms were allocated for these purposes, and over 11 months of 2025, funding increased to 1.7 billion soms. Currently, work is being carried out on cleaning, constructing, and strengthening channels, as well as on the construction of reservoirs for regulating water supply.
