According to Euractiv, a new package of sanctions from the European Union may be presented by February 24.

Finland and Sweden are insisting on adding a ban on the export of luxury goods to Russia and on the maintenance of Russian oil tankers to this 20th sanctions package. Additionally, they propose to reduce quotas on the import of fertilizers from Russia.

Although luxury goods priced above 300 euros are already subject to a ban, many well-known European brands, such as Gucci, Bottega Veneta, and Yves Saint Laurent, are still available on the Russian market, albeit at high prices. Often, these goods are re-exported to Russia from China, Turkey, and other countries, raising further questions, the report states.

It should be noted that the previous sanctions package included 21 individuals and 42 legal entities, among which are companies from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. These entities are suspected of assisting in circumventing previously established restrictions. The EU has prohibited them from conducting any operations with European counterparties and has restricted access to international payment systems.

Measures against the "shadow fleet," consisting of 117 tankers engaged in the transportation of Russian oil, have also been tightened.
