From January 1, 2024, a temporary ban on the export of gasoline, diesel fuel, and other petroleum products will be extended in Russia, as confirmed by published government decrees.

These measures will take effect on December 29 of this year and are aimed at stabilizing the situation in the domestic fuel market.

According to the press service, the new decree extends the ban on the export of automotive gasoline until February 28, 2026. The restrictions apply to all exporters, including fuel producers.

Additionally, another decree extends the ban on traders exporting diesel fuel, marine fuel, and other gas oils, including those purchased on the exchange, until February 28, 2024. However, this restriction does not affect direct producers of petroleum products.

Previously, in response to high seasonal demand and repairs at oil refineries, a restriction on the export of diesel fuel for traders was introduced from October 1, 2023, until the end of 2025. Producers are not subject to these restrictions. The ban on the export of gasoline for all market participants has also been extended for the same period.

These measures do not apply to fuel exported for personal use, nor to supplies within the framework of international humanitarian assistance. Furthermore, the restrictions do not affect exports under intergovernmental agreements with other countries, such as Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan, which are members of the Eurasian Economic Union.
