Bishkek City Hall: The maximum price for meat should not exceed 680 soms
In Bishkek, there is ongoing monitoring of prices for essential food products, including beef and lamb, as reported by the city hall's press service.

“This monitoring is carried out in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 140 dated August 7, 2025, which introduces temporary state regulation of prices for meat products (beef and lamb, excluding boneless meat),” the city hall clarified.

As part of this initiative, the district administrations of Sverdlov, Pervomaisky, Lenin, and Oktyabrsky, together with representatives of the antimonopoly service, veterinary service, and tax authorities, regularly conduct raids and monitoring at markets and retail outlets.

Inspections take place at markets such as the "Osh Bazaars" shopping center, "Orto-Sai," "Alamedin," "Dordoy," "Aziz," as well as in chains like "Market," "Globus," "Asia," and other trading places.

During the monitoring, work is conducted with entrepreneurs and sellers to explain the inadmissibility of unjustified price increases and the necessity of adhering to the maximum retail prices. Special attention is paid to compliance with the maximum price for beef and lamb, which should not exceed 680 soms per kilogram.

Various measures are also being considered to increase the trade in meat products at socially significant prices, including providing trading spaces without intermediaries and opening additional sales points.

Since January 14, 2026, due to the cessation of wholesale meat trading at the Osh market, a new meat pavilion "Chuygun" has been opened in the territory of the "Altyn-Taka" livestock market, which fully meets sanitary and veterinary requirements. Currently, wholesale meat sales are conducted in this pavilion.

Additionally, a retail pavilion "Taza Adal Et" operates in the same area, where residents can purchase quality and safe meat.

The current wholesale prices for meat are: lamb — 640–680 soms, beef — 640–680 soms, horse meat — 540–560 soms. Retail prices start from 660 soms.

It is worth noting that raids and price monitoring are conducted on a regular basis.
