Sergey Leonov, head of the State Duma Committee on Health, commented on the lawsuit filed by Kyrgyzstan in the Eurasian Economic Union court. This lawsuit concerns Russia's refusal to issue medical insurance policies for migrant families.

According to Leonov, citizens of Kyrgyzstan have the opportunity to obtain additional medical insurance in Russia.

He noted that working migrants and their families can purchase a policy at their own expense and, therefore, receive medical care. “We must have a unified position: our medical institutions should not be overloaded with foreigners. Family members of labor migrants can pay for policies themselves and receive medical services... Migrants have the right to emergency medical assistance, and they will not be denied this. But why should we finance their treatment at the expense of our budget?” he added.

It is worth reminding that earlier Kyrgyzstan appealed to the EAEU court asking for clarification on the situation regarding mandatory medical insurance after cases of refusal to issue policies to labor migrants' families. A court decision is expected to be made within two weeks.
