At a meeting of the "Mekenchil" deputy group, the head of the plant protection and control department at the department of chemicalization, plant protection, and quarantine, Almaz Alakunov, reported that by 2027, Kyrgyzstan will be able to fully meet its needs for mineral fertilizers.

According to him, the annual demand for these fertilizers in the country is 280 thousand tons.

“Currently, we are purchasing 160 thousand tons, of which 80% comes from Uzbekistan. This is due to the high costs of building our own fertilizer production plant. However, construction of a mineral fertilizer plant has begun in Nookat by a large Chinese company. The first phase is expected to be completed in December 2026, and the plant will be able to produce 200 thousand tons of fertilizers. This will allow us to fully meet our required volume of mineral fertilizers in 2027,” added Almaz Alakunov.
