On February 4, the Chief of Staff of the President of Kyrgyzstan, Kanibek Tumanbaev, met with representatives of the Osh market to discuss the details of the upcoming relocation and the future of the vacated territory. According to him, a modern park will be created on the site of one of the largest bazaars in the capital, and a new medical facility is planned to be built on the territory of the "Kiyal" market.
The main phase of the relocation of trading areas is scheduled for the summer of 2026; however, the opening of the new complex at the intersection of Fuchik Street and the Bypass Road is expected as early as spring. Tumanbaev assured entrepreneurs that the old market will continue to operate in the usual mode until the new site is fully ready. The authorities aim to make the transition process as comfortable as possible to avoid potential social tension.
The Chief of Staff of the President noted that the conditions at the new location will be significantly better than the current ones. All entrepreneurs will receive trading spaces while retaining their previous square footage. Priority in the allocation of spaces will be given to those who are already working at the Osh market, and then the available areas will be offered to other interested parties.
The issue of transport accessibility has also been resolved: the city authorities have purchased 180 new buses to ensure connectivity with the new trading hub. Tumanbaev assured that neither sellers nor buyers will face problems getting to the new market. The result of this reform will be the creation of modern trading conditions and the formation of a new green zone in the city center.
