The Cabinet intends to keep inflation within 8%

Daniyar Amangeldiev noted that the authorities are working on controlling prices for essential goods.

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Daniyar Amangeldiev, reported on the ongoing efforts of the government to curb prices for socially significant products and inflation.

In his speech in parliament, he emphasized the amendments made to the Tax Code, which were supported by the deputies and granted the Cabinet of Ministers the authority to regulate prices. As part of these new powers, import duties were abolished, and tax benefits and VAT exemptions for certain goods were introduced.

Amangeldiev mentioned that after the pandemic, inflation reached double-digit figures; however, thanks to the measures taken, it was possible to stabilize the situation.

"Currently, state regulation of meat prices continues, and constant market monitoring is being conducted. This year, together with the National Bank, we are implementing additional measures to curb inflation. Last year, inflation was 9.2%, and our goal is to keep it at no higher than 8%," he added.
