A significant project has been launched in the Toktogul region, focused on utilizing rainfed (non-irrigated) areas for the creation of intensive orchards. The initiative belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, which is organizing the preparation of 30 hectares of land where modern agronomic technologies will be applied to support farmers.
To ensure irrigation, a reservoir with a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters is being created, and drip irrigation systems will be implemented by the district water management authority. The entire area is already being fenced to protect it from external factors. The land has been leased for 5 years through the relevant agricultural development authority, allowing farmers to develop long-term strategies.
Planting work will begin in March. The introduction of drip irrigation will not only help address water shortages but will also significantly simplify plant care, which, in turn, will increase their yield. The ministry notes that such projects aim to increase the income of rural producers and contribute to the sustainable development of the agricultural sector in the region.
