The autumn sowing in Kyrgyzstan is over 60 percent complete


This season, the autumn sowing campaign in Kyrgyzstan covers an area of 250 thousand hectares. Currently, farmers have processed 155.6 thousand hectares, which is 62.4% of the planned volumes, according to information from the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

As usual, the majority of the allocated areas are intended for winter crops. Winter wheat occupies 147.6 thousand hectares, of which 66.6 thousand hectares are on rain-fed land, while 80.9 thousand hectares are on irrigated plots. Winter barley has been sown on 8 thousand 37.5 hectares: about 3 thousand hectares are on irrigated land, while nearly 5 thousand hectares are on rain-fed land.

The sowing process is uneven across regions. In the Batken region, 7.3 thousand hectares have been sown, the majority of which is winter wheat, with barley occupying less than a thousand hectares. In the Jalal-Abad region, sowing work has covered 16 thousand hectares, almost entirely planted with wheat. The Osh region, in turn, has sown 17.1 thousand hectares, of which 16.7 thousand are winter wheat.

In the Talas region, the sowing of winter wheat is complete, and the crop occupies 5.3 thousand hectares, all of which are on irrigated land. The Chuy region shows the largest sowing volumes: here, 100.2 thousand hectares have been sown, including 94.5 thousand hectares of winter wheat and nearly 5.9 thousand hectares of winter barley. In the Issyk-Kul region, sowing work has been carried out on 9.2 thousand hectares, which are entirely occupied by winter wheat.
