As reported by Forbes Kazakhstan, Freedom Bank Kazakhstan has decided not to proceed with plans to open a subsidiary bank in Kyrgyzstan. The announcement was made by the bank's press service, which explained that the refusal is related to a reassessment of its international strategy.

The company noted: "Freedom Bank is currently not planning to launch a subsidiary bank in the Kyrgyz Republic; this is part of the update of our international strategy. Nevertheless, we continue to analyze the market in the context of long-term regional development."

The bank also clarified that it is currently focused on exploring other foreign directions identified during recent meetings and trips by management.

At the same time, Freedom Bank maintains its presence in Kyrgyzstan through holding companies that provide brokerage services, payment services, and ticket sales.

Earlier, in December 2025, Freedom Bank Kazakhstan planned to enter the Kyrgyz market by creating a new company that was supposed to obtain a banking license and become a full-fledged bank.

According to the initial plans, the bank was to be fully owned by Freedom Bank Kazakhstan, with a charter capital of 1 billion soms.

Now, the chairman of the bank's board will need to withdraw the application for permission to establish a subsidiary structure, which was submitted in December.
