The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan has announced the start of work on a state program aimed at creating a network of modern warehouses with cold storage facilities across the country. This proposal was made as a result of discussions at the "AgroDialogue-2026" forum and is intended to reduce crop losses and increase the export potential of the republic.
The project aims to address one of the main problems faced by local farmers — the lack of quality storage conditions for harvested products. The creation of modern logistics hubs that meet international standards will ensure the long-term preservation of the marketable appearance of vegetables and fruits, which in turn will expand opportunities for their processing and sales in external markets.
The ministry noted that the implementation of the program will be based on the principles of public-private partnership. The state will take full responsibility for the projects, from design and construction to certification of facilities and consultations on inventory management. It is expected that such infrastructure will not only improve the food security of the country but also create new jobs in the regions.
According to specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture, the introduction of modern storage technologies will significantly increase the incomes of agricultural producers by eliminating seasonal losses. In addition, the availability of stable product stocks in the country will help smooth out price fluctuations and reduce the cost of vegetables and fruits for consumers in the domestic market.
