At the republican meeting held on February 27 at "Yntymak Ordo," President Sadyr Japarov announced the country's intentions to abandon the import of socially significant food products.

The head of state noted that work in the agricultural sector has yielded tangible results, and over the past five years, the volume of agricultural production has reached nearly 2 trillion soms.

This, according to him, indicates the creation of new jobs and an increase in income for rural families, which contributes to strengthening Kyrgyzstan's economic independence.

Japarov also emphasized that today the republic fully provides itself with six out of nine main types of food.

He added that this is an important indicator for the country's food sustainability and security. Previously, a significant portion of these goods was imported. In the future, it is planned to achieve self-sufficiency in the remaining three types, completely abandoning imports," the president noted, adding that more than 60 domestic products are exported to over 80 countries, which demonstrates the competitiveness of Kyrgyz farmers on the international stage.

In addition, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Erlis Akunbekov, added that Kyrgyzstan is already self-sufficient in dairy products, potatoes, vegetables, sugar, meat, and eggs, while vegetable oil and fruits are still imported.
