The Ministry of Agriculture asks farmers to focus on wheat, vegetables, and beets

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic strongly recommends that farmers pay special attention to the cultivation of essential agricultural crops in anticipation of the spring sowing. In a press release from the department, citing the head of the Plant Production Department, Turatbek Idrisov, it is reported that the key crops necessary for ensuring food security include wheat, barley, potatoes, onions, and sugar beets. These grain crops and beets form the basis of the country's strategic reserves. Monitoring the current situation shows that with the increase in livestock numbers, farmers have already begun to expand areas for sowing forage crops such as barley and corn.

In addition to ensuring the food base, the Ministry of Agriculture also advises paying attention to profitable crops such as raspberries, strawberries, and corn. Farmers wishing to develop this sector are recommended to implement modern irrigation methods, such as drip and sprinkler irrigation. To support such technologies, the government has developed a subsidy system: agrarians applying effective irrigation methods can expect subsidies and preferential loans with minimal interest rates.

The department emphasizes a scientific approach to soil treatment. Turatbek Idrisov noted that before sowing begins, farmers need to conduct a soil analysis to accurately determine the dosage of mineral and agro-mineral fertilizers, avoiding exceeding the norms. The ministry also recommends thoroughly checking the purity of seeds and the overall condition of the soil. Only based on the collected data can it be determined which crops will be the most feasible and economically viable for a specific plot, as these factors directly influence the final yield.
