Previously, Minister Erlis Akunbekov instructed to organize raids to combat unscrupulous intermediaries engaged in illegal trade, including identifying cases of imported potatoes from China being sold under the label of local produce.
As a result of the inspection, it was found that Chinese potatoes are indeed present in the markets; however, no cases of their sale as Kyrgyz were detected. Experts noted that there are no grounds for restricting imports from China, which is due to the commitments made under the World Trade Organization, where member countries exchange goods, including the export of Kyrgyz products to China.
Veterinary and phytosanitary control specialists have urged potato producers to promptly sell their products.
It is expected that early potatoes grown in the Aravan district will soon enter the market, which may slow down price increases. In this context, prolonged storage of the harvest may lead to spoilage and financial losses for farmers.
Representatives of the service also noted that the responsibility for potential losses related to product spoilage lies with the producers themselves, and they urged them to adequately assess the market situation.
