EU Engages in Elections: Kyrgyzstan Demonstrates Openness and New Technologies

The meeting took place in the Kyrgyz Republic between Tynchtyk Shaynazaro, the chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums, and Remi Duflo, the head of the European Union Delegation in the country.

During the conversation, key aspects of the preparation for the upcoming early elections of the members of the Jogorku Kenesh were discussed, as well as cooperation with international partners to ensure the transparency of the electoral process.

Shaynazaro noted that Kyrgyzstan is ready to accept a large number of international observers. As of November 24, 2025, the CEC has accredited 770 observers from 58 countries.

Duflo, in turn, announced the intention of six EU representatives to observe the elections. He also raised important issues regarding the organization of remote voting, adherence to procedures by candidates, as well as measures taken during the election campaign and ensuring gender and ethnic diversity in candidate lists.

Issues related to voting for Kyrgyz citizens abroad and ways to inform them about the process were also discussed.

Shaynazaro provided detailed answers to all the raised topics. At the end of the meeting, an updated remote voting system was presented, which is planned to be used in the upcoming elections.
